Five Thai hostages released from Hamas captivity last week had a tearful reunion with their families on Sunday (February 9) as they arrived in a Thailand airport from Israel after over a year in Hamas’ captivity.
Surrounded by officials and media, the released hostages embraced their loved ones for the first time since the 15-month war in Gaza.
The hostages were taken on Oct.7 2023 when Hamas gunmen burst across the border into Israel and killed some 1,200 people, according to Israeli authorities.
The Thai hostages, Pongsak Thaenna, Sathian Suwannakham, Sriaoun Watchara, Seathao Bannawat, and Lumnao Surasak, were released last Thursday (January 30) along with three Israeli hostages.
