Gaza children continue to suffer ‘after 15 months of fear and horror’: UNICEF

 

A team of Israeli negotiators is in Cairo to discuss the continued implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Israel is still blocking the entry of mobile shelters and heavy equipment into the strip, which was agreed under the deal. With more than 70 percent of buildings in Gaza destroyed, Palestinians need bulldozers to clear the rubble and recover thousands of bodies buried beneath the ruins. Convoys of trucks carrying mobile homes and tents are waiting at the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing in southern Gaza. Tess Ingram, a spokesperson for UNICEF, has just returned from a two-week visit to Gaza, where she spoke with many children about their experiences amid the rubble of their homes and deteriorating weather conditions.
