Hamas has announced a successful ambush of an Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) engineering unit, claiming that their Al-Qassam fighters used Al-Yassin 105 shells to launch the attack. According to Hamas, the assault resulted in fatalities and injuries among the crews of Israeli vehicles. This operation took place west of the Jabaliya camp in northern Gaza City, marking a significant escalation in hostilities in the region.
